چکیده

A relation between utterance speed and the amount articulatory behavior for each phoneme reduces is investigated on the basis of the articulatory data taken by using a magnetic sensory system. The relation between the utterance speed and the change of the utterance timing for each phoneme is also focused on. Two linear-regression models are proposed: one predicts reduced articulatory movements and the other adjusts the utterance timing of each phoneme according to the utterance speed.

Speed-curvature relations in speech production challenge the 1/3 power law.

Relations between tangential velocity and trajectory curvature are analyzed for tongue movements during speech production in the framework of the 1/3 power law, discovered by Viviani and colleagues for arm movements. In 2004, Tasko and Westbury found for American English that the power function provides a good account of speech kinematics, but with an exponent that varies across articulators. T...

Articulatory organization of mandibular, labial, and velar movements during speech.

It has been shown that articulator movements during speech are adjusted along a number of spatiotemporal dimensions. For example, variations in the extent of lip, jaw, or tongue motion are associated with proportional changes in the respective articulators' peak velocity. Modifications in the timing of lip and jaw actions are apparently constrained, exhibiting relative timing covariation. Sylla...

A study of interplay between articulatory movement and prosodic characteristics in emotional speech production

This paper investigates the interplay between articulatory movement and voice source activity as a function of emotions in speech production. Our hypothesis is that humans use different modulation methods in which articulatory movements and prosodic modulations are differently weighted across different emotions. This hypothesis was examined by joint analysis of the two domains, using two statis...
